AI is the best teacher you’ll ever have
Read this if you enjoy learning for the sake of knowledge
For free, right now, you have a teacher that is endlessly patient, creative, whimsical, understanding, and well-resourced. In the snap of a finger, you can change how the teacher talks to you, how it receives and gives information, and how much it should make you work to get an answer. This teacher applies no pressure on you. You could give the wrong answer 500 times in a row, and it would still be there to assist you.
If you ever cried at the kitchen table while your parent demanded ‘WHAT’S 3x3’ over and over, know that your trauma wounds have been healed.
You don’t even have to know how to begin. Just go to it, say ‘how do I use u 2 learn’ and it’ll handle the rest.
If you want to get fancy, you can ask it to design a curriculum. You can have it test your current knowledge first. You can have it assess your best learning style. You can ask it to emulate any of the best teachers, in any language, from across history.
You work well with positive feedback? Now it calls you ‘Big Hoss’ after every right answer. You need discipline? It’ll pause progress until you do the work. At the core, it is adaptive to you.
In my own life, I’m now tackling things I never would have thought possible 5 years ago. Things that I had already closed my identity off to, because the cost would not be worth the time and effort.
‘I’ll never code, at least not until I retire’, I thought. ‘I’m a bio guy, I’ve put so much work in, it would be crazy to switch’.
BUT LOOK AT ME NOW, FUCKIN’ AROUND WITH PYTHON AND A SOLDERING TORCH.
AI has removed all the limits for my potential. Nothing stands between me and outcomes except patience, effort, and time. If I am willing to sit my ass in that seat and keep pushing through the frustration, then the teacher will teach.
If you are at all a self-driven individual, now is the time when you can let curiosity guide you around the whole of collective human knowledge and chart the journey through whatever brings you joy.
Go flex the muscle of learning, starting with literally anything you’ve always wanted to know about. Talk to it like you would a teacher, use whatever language feels natural. You do not have to have an end goal in mind, all you need to do is revisit what learning can be when there is no restraint, no pressure, no limits, and no grades.
Learning for the sake of learning.
Trust that you will get better with it over time. Trust that the model itself will get better over time. If you want it to get better right now, the best models are $20 a month.
I am so curious to see where your mind goes when the universe opens up to you.
With love, from me to you,
Deacon
