Ive also seen a study that said the wealthier a person was, the less empathetic they became. Idk how scientific the study was, but it seems to track. Any thoughts on this?

It seems so easy to become detached from issues once they stop being part of your daily life. In the labs, it's a running joke that any time a professor tries to come back and do hands-on science, they forget how hard it is and how long everything takes. Everything is rosy in hindsight, and it wouldn't surprise me if the immensity of poverty problems become completely desensitized after you've escaped from it, leaving you no space for empathetic connection with those still in it.
